The EU has been making significant contributions to the development of the Pacific Region. It has contributed in many development facets and is the third largest donor to the region after Australia and Japan.
The EU projects in the Pacific region focuses on community resilience to weather changes, on climate change projects to increase the use of renewable energy, sustainability of communities through agriculture and water projects, building capacity in economic governance, activities to reduce gender-based violence and fostering on regional integration to achieve tangible benefits for the Pacific Islanders.
As part of its capacity building and regional integration programs, the EU has provided full scholarships to Pacific Island students including Papua New Guinea. Mid each year, the scholarship opens to PNG students.
Funded by the EU and managed through three different projects; the Bula Project coordinated by the University of South Pacific (USP), Education for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation (ECCAM) project coordinated by Fiji National University (FNU) and Caribbean-Pacific Island Mobility Scheme (CARPIMS).
The scholarships for post-graduate level studies, allows interested students to apply at the beginning of each year for intake of the following year.
It covers payment of tuition fees, travel cost to and from the host country and health and accident insurance. Applicants are to submit their application with required documentations online.
