Funeral Program for Late GG Sir Michael
Governor-General Sir Michael Ogio’s funeral service will be on Friday before his body is flown to his resting place, Buka on Saturday.
It will be a State Funeral Service (laying wreaths) held at the St Mary’s Cathedral, Downtown Port Moresby. Before it departs for Buka, there will be one last Guard of Honour by the PNG Defence Force.
Government House and the Government Protocol Office yesterday released the official program. The program states that the body of Sir Michael will “lie in state” (no wreaths) at the Government House tomorrow morning at 10 o’clock where viewing will be done by Acting Speaker John Simon, Prime Minister Peter O’Neill, State Ministers, Chief Justice Sir Salamo Injia, heads of missions, heads of departments, diplomats and invited guests.
The body will depart from Funeral Home at Erima to Government House escorted by police and followed by cortege comprising Lady Esmie Ogio and immediate family members.
The body of the late Governor-General arrives at Government House where it will be received by acting Governor-General Theodore Zurenuoc.
On Friday, the body will depart Funeral Home for St Mary’s Cathedral, Downtown at 9.30am escorted by police.
On Saturday at 9.30am the Government House officials, government officers and several other diplomats will accompany the body of late Governor-General for Buka where a separate program will take place.
