Urban Unemployed Youths to Undergo Literacy and Numeracy Training
The four learning modules under the project cover basic literacy and numeracy, functional literacy for employability, functional numeracy for employability and life skills for entry level employment.
This covers a range of skills tailored to growing employment sectors in Port Moresby such as hospitality, events management, construction and administration.
Project manager Tom Gillis said the training will prepare participants for employment and improve their employability.
Gillis explained that the objective will be to provide participants with the information and basic skills necessary to make changes in their lifestyle, values and behaviours that will in turn lead to a more productive life.
Montrose will design a curriculum which will incorporate relevant training tools and methods that are appropriate for young adults with low levels of literacy and education.
The curriculum will deliver three rounds of training between March 2017 and June 2018.
